
A Fayette woman was charged with multiple felonies after an incident involving a stolen wallet on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
According to probable cause statement, a victim reported to Fayette Police that Tammy Jefferson had allegedly stolen a wallet and used the debit card at Casey’s General Store in Fayette. The officer contacted the store and obtained a receipt and camera footage allegedly showing Jefferson as the suspect.
On Sunday, June 4, 2023 the officer located Jefferson and took her into custody for stealing and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card. Jefferson admitted to the officer possessing methamphetamine at the time of the arrest. A field test of a crystal like substance in Jefferson’s possession tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
Jefferson was charged with felonies for possession of a controlled substance, stealing and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution as well as a misdemeanor.
Bond was set at $20,000 cash only.
Jefferson waived a formal arraignment on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 and entered a not guilty plea. A bond review hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Howard County Circuit Court.
