On Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at approximately 1250 p.m., a joint investigation involving the Sedalia Police Department’s Crime Resolution Unit, the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force, and the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office culminated in a traffic stop on US Highway 65 southbound near Hughesville Road.

During the enforcement contact, reasonable suspicion was developed that criminal activity was ongoing, and consent to search was denied. Sedalia Police K9 Officer Hammond and K9 Rocky responded to the scene, and Rocky gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics.

During a probable cause search, a total of 148 counterfeit Percocet pills containing fentanyl were located in a natural void within the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia. 40-year-old Brian Vinyard was arrested without incident and was placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail. Charges of 2nd Degree Trafficking are being presented to Pettis County Prosecutor’s office.
