Saline County Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner gave a report on soft match funds purchased by the county during the Saline County Commission meeting on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

Fenner stated the funds were purchased from another county at 50 cents on the dollar. The funds become available when a county has excess funds.

In other news from the meeting, Fenner stated the work at the Saline County Jail is expected to begin the third week of June. The Sheriff’s Department and Verigy will be working with each other to move prisoners if needed to another facility during the renovation. The project is expected to completed by the end of December.

Also, Saline County Collector Cindi Sims provided an update on the tax sale.

Sims reported there were about 170 properties with the sale.
