A Marshall man has been charged with several violent felonies after an incident on June 7, 2023.

According to the Marshall Police Department, officers responded to a Marshall residence to investigate a reported domestic assault. The victim contacted Saline County Central 911 and advised that she was assault by Jesus Angel Ortiz Cardiel. She also reportedly ran away from the residence to get away from Ortiz Cardiel.

Officers located the victim and noticed extensive bruising, cuts, and swelling around her neck, jaw, and cheeks.

The pair allegedly got into an argument, when Ortiz Cardiel began choking and assaulting the victim. Ortiz Cardiel also had an active Saline County warrant for a DWI.

Court documents say Ortiz Cardiel is charged with a felonies for domestic assault in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon exhibiting. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash only.

Ortiz Cardiel has a confined docket hearing scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Saline County Circuit Court.
