A Sedalia man pleaded guilty to first degree involuntary manslaughter in Saline County Circuit Court on Monday June 12, stemming from a case moved from Pettis County in 2021.

According to a probable cause statement, an investigation revealed that Joseph Rankin allegedly shot Robert Fox in Sedalia in February 2020 while they were engaged in a fight in a vehicle.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 700 block of East 17th street where Fox was found lying on the street, deceased from a gunshot wound to the chest.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2023 at Saline County Circuit Court.
