The Warrensburg Police Department responded to an armed individual on Sunset Drive on Saturday, June 17.

According to the department, officers were dispatched to Sunset Drive at 9:58 p.m. to investigate a possible burglary in progress involving a man with a gun.

Officers found the suspect armed with a pistol in the middle of the street. The suspect was threatening suicide by cop. Police engaged in a four hour standoff with the suspect and were able to safely disarm him and take him into custody with out further incident. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State highway Patrol, and University of Central Missouri Police Department assisted with with standoff.

The subject taken into custody, awaiting formal charges for burglary and unlawful use of a weapon.
