The Boonville City Council authorized an agreement with Boonville R-1 School for the school resource officer program.

City Administrator Kate Fjell said the school will start with one officer between the elementary and high school.

The council is being reimbursed 76 percent of the cost of the officer for the program. The ultimate plan is to hire a second school resource officer to begin in January 2024.

The program gets underway in July 2023.
