The Marshall City Council discussed compensation for certain elected city officials during its meeting on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

The ordinance would increase the compensation for the mayor to $750 per month effective in 2027 and $500 per month to council members effective in 2025.

Councilman Drew Green stated he would like to discuss the ordinance in committee and would like to see budget cuts before any action was taken.

Mayor Vince Lutterbie stated it has been almost thirty years since an increase has taken effect.

After discussion, the council voted four to two against the ordinance with Councilmen Swisher, Cook, Green and Allen voting no and Councilmen Guthrie and Perkins voting yes. Councilmen Brandt and Thompson were absent from the meeting.
