A Moberly man has been charged with several felonies after breaking into several residences in Howard County on June 17, 2023.
According to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to several residences in Higbee to investigate a report of burglary. One of the homeowners told authorities that they watched a subject attempt to break into their residence on his Ring security camera. Deputies investigated multiple residences in the area and found that several items were missing from each one, and more items were staged and ready to be retrieved later. Deputies concluded that the subject would return to the properties later to steal the items.
Deputies staged in the area, and heard four-wheelers approach about three hours later. After a brief chase, deputies apprehended 32-year-old Joshua Luntsford. Luntsford reportedly had items consistent with the stolen property on his person. No other subjects were located at the scene. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted with a perimeter to locate the second subject, but came up empty.
A total of four residences were broken into around County Road 125 and 123. Authorities are trying to identify the other suspects involved.
Luntsford has been charged with felonies for burglary in the second degree and resisting arrest. Bond was set at $100,000 cash only.
Luntsford has a bond review hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 27; as well as a preliminary hearing set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 at Howard County Circuit Court.
