
An Odessa woman has been charged with two drug felonies after a traffic stop in Lafayette County on Wednesday, June 21.
According to a probable cause statement, A Lafayette County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a stop on a vehicle speeding on Interstate 70. The deputy observed the driver, identified as Jolene Harris to be nervous and slurring speech during the stop.
The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle which was refused by Harris. A K9 unit was called to the scene and a positive alert by the K9 was made on the vehicle.
During a search, the deputy located a ziploc bag with a large amount of a white crystal substance. The deputy also located a scale with white residue, baggy containing pills, marijuana and other drug related items. After placing Harris under arrest, she allegedly admitted to having alleged methamphetamine, marijuana and pills in the vehicle.
The white crystal substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. The pills were identified to be schedule four narcotics.
According to court documents, Harris has been charged with two felonies for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated.
Bond has been set at $15,000 cash only.
Harris was arraigned on Thursday, June 22 and has a hearing scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 12 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
