The Cooper County Commission has proclaimed a State of Emergency in Cooper County due to drought conditions. With the extremely dry conditions, there is a very high risk of any fire to become out of control.

The Cooper County Commission and the Cooper County Emergency Management Agency strongly discourage any outdoor burning and the discharge of aerial fireworks until the drought conditions improve. They also advise to use extreme caution with any fireworks and smoking materials, call 911 immediately for all fires even if a small fire starts and have plenty of water available to extinguish small fires.
