The St. Louis Cardinals split a Saturday doubleheader with the New York Yankees, winning the first game 11-4 and losing the second game 6-2.

In the first game, the Cardinals jumped out to an 11-0 lead before a rain delay occurred in the seventh inning. The St. Louis offense was powered by Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Gorman, who both homered. The bottom of the lineup also produced, as Alec Burleson, Tommy Edman, Paul Dejong, and Andrew Kizner all had run producing hits.

Jack Flaherty went six scoreless innings for the win.

In game two, the Yankees struck first against Matthew Liberatore, who went four and a third, giving up seven hits and three runs.

The Cardinals were trailing 3-2 heading into the ninth inning before the Yankees added some insurance runs against Chris Stratton. The Yankees went on to win 6-2.

Lars Nootbar hit a lead-off homer in the first inning and Jordan Walker doubled home a run.

St. Louis will go for the series win today. Jordan Montgomery will face his former team against Gerrit Cole. Game time is at 1:15 p.m. at Busch Stadium.
