The Higginsville Board of Aldermen approved a request from McClure Engineering to seek bids for construction of the new wastewater treatment plant during its meeting on Monday, July 3.

City Administrator Jeanette Dobson stated the city should receive a construction permit from the Department of Natural Resources within the next week.

Dobson also stated the city has hired Scott McCormick as manager of the Higginsville Municipal Airport. McCormick started on June 12.

In other news, Dobson stated the grand opening of a new nature trail on the west arm of the city lake is tentatively scheduled for Monday, July 17 and the new event area at the Robertson Memorial Library has been opened.
