
An area student took first place in her category at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Denver, Colorado. The conference was held July 2-6.
Lydea Britt traveled to compete in STAR Events, learn from motivational speakers, attend leadership workshops, and network with other FCCLA members from across the country. Britt was accompanied by Salisbury FCCLA Adviser Lindsay Ostermann.
Britt competed in the Career Investigation STAR Event (Level 1 which includes 6-8 graders). At the STAR Event Recognition Session, which recognizes the top ten of the more than 30 different categories, Britt was announced as the 1st place winner of her category. She received a plaque and a gold medal.
