The Marshall Board of Education discussed adding a third school resource officer during its meeting on Tuesday, July 11.

Assistant Superintendent David Reinke gave an update on where the existing school resource officers are located and the need for a part time officer to be added.

The board approved adding a third part time officer. One officer will be dedicated to Marshall High School, the Saline County Career Center and the Alternative School. The second officer will be located at Bueker and will also be in charge of Northwest, Benton and Eastwood Schools. The third officer will be dedicated to the Spainhower Building and the Butterfield Campus.

The $25,000 salary of the third officer will be available from a safety and security grant the district has received.
