The Pettis County Health Center will be closed on Thursday, July 13, 2023 to allow employees to participate in a community wide exercise. The exercise will focus on the evacuation of a long term care facility due to a power failure during extremely hot weather. The exercise will be occurring between 9 am and 1 pm. No disruption to community services is anticipated however those in the western part of Sedalia may see movement of “actors” between long term care facilities and “actors” at Bothwell Regional Health Center and Sedalia Surgical Center. No long term care residents will be moved.

Community emergency preparedness exercises are very important to allow first responders and other community agencies to practice response to an emergency situation. Coordination and communication are critical to a response to an emergency situation. Community exercises allow participants to check response plans and make adjustments as needed. A variety of first responders will be participating in addition to the Pettis County Health Center and Sedalia-Pettis County Emergency Management Agency.

Additional information is available by contacting the Pettis County Health Center at 660-827-1130 or the Sedalia-Pettis County Emergency Management Agency at 660-827-4800.
