The Carrollton Town Council approved an ordinance authorizing the city to enter into a contract to purchase up to 25 tons of highway ice control salt during its meeting on Monday, July 17.

City Administrative Assistant Kelsey Bryson stated the low bid for the salt was $88.13 per ton from Independent Salt Company of Kanopolis, Kansas.

The council also discussed an offer from the county collector for tax billing and collection for the city. Bryson stated the council decided to continue bill its own taxes.

In other news, the council discussed making changes to the planning and zoning board including requiring a member to be a citizen of the county with a vested interest. The council will address planned changes to the board at a future date.
