Roger W. Gates, 82, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 24, 2023 at 1 P.M. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, with Pastor Tara Thompson officiating.  Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of services at the chapel.  Memorials are suggested to the Pettis County Historical Society & Museum.

Born September 20, 1940 in Sedalia, he was the son of the late Cecil B.

and Lucille Miller Gates.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and a cousin.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald H. Gates; and a sister, Sandra Lou Gates.

Mr. Gates was a member of the First Christian Church in Sedalia, and had served in the Missouri National Guard.  He was a 1958 graduate of Smith Cotton High School, and had worked for a number of years as a surveyor with Eppenauer Surveyors.  He loved history, antiques, woodworking, and playing golf.
