The Higginsville Board of Aldermen approved an alley abatement for the Montessori School during its meeting on Monday, July 17.
Higginsville City Administrator Jeanette Dobson stated the school had made the request to vacate the alley allowing them to gate a section to protect students from traffic.
Dobson stated the residents that live on the alley will still have access to the back of their properties and it will not affect other residents on the block.
In other news, the board amended a bill relating to committees. The Higginsville Fire Department had been on the list of committees but has now been taken off due to the fact that the department is now a fire district.
