
Orlyn A. Heimsoth, Sr., 75, of Concordia, MO, went home to Jesus on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Private family burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Grade School Scholarship Fund, The Lutheran Bible Translators, Emergency Medical Services of Higginsville or The Lutheran Hour and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com
Orlyn was a loving husband to Diane Heimsoth (wife of 55 years); devoted father of Orlyn Andrew Heimsoth, Jr. of Camdenton, MO and Heather (Timothy) Liebnau of St. Louis, MO; dear brother of Melba Keele, Carole Puckett, Linda White, Wayne Heimsoth, Lynette Schulz, Rev. Jeffrey Heimsoth and brother-in-law Thomas W. Griffith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Orlyn was born to Oscar and Mildred (Borchers) Heimsoth on August 10, 1947, on their family farm near Cole Camp, MO. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Church in Cole Camp, MO. Orlyn attended Benton County R-2 High School, where he met Diane. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran High School his senior year, St. Paul’s Junior College, then went on to graduate from Concordia College in River Forest, Chicago, IL with a degree in elementary education. Orlyn and Diane married at Trinity Church in Cole Camp on June 2, 1968. Orlyn also obtained his master’s degree in education and an IT degree from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
Orlyn led a full and blessed life as a beloved husband, father, and friend. He has blessed many others through his calling as a teacher, principal, and technology instructor. Orlyn loved music and was a band director at St. Paul’s Lutheran Grade School as well as a member of Joyful Sounds choir and hand bells. He also directed the brass choir on special holidays at church and played tuba with the Heidelberg Musikanten.
Orlyn volunteered and served as rescue captain at the Concordia Fire and Ambulance Department. He operated an appliance repair business in Concordia, MO. Through his life he dedicated much of his free time to his congregation, Harvesters, and Orphan Grain Train. He also helped establish the His Little Lambs program at St. Paul’s.
Orlyn enjoyed gardening, farming, livestreaming church services on his computer, being outdoors, and was always ready to help those in need. Orlyn had a strong faith in God, which he loved sharing with others. He used his many talents and gifts to share the love of Jesus and help his friends, family, and those around him in his community. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
