Pettis County Joint Communications received a report from Bothwell Regional Health Center (BRHC) at approximately 9:40 p.m. Sunday, July 30 that someone had called in saying there was a bomb in the hospital. Law Enforcement Agencies including the Sedalia Police Department, Pettis County Sheriff’s Office, and Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene and established a perimeter. They were assisted by the Sedalia Fire Department and the Pettis County Ambulance district. The hospital activated their emergency threat protocols and procedures to limit any exposure to danger. Law Enforcement, BRHC Security, Pettis County explosive detecting canine and four bomb sniffing canines from Whiteman Air Force base completed a systematic search of both the inside and outside of the hospital. After the four and half hour search the hospital was deemed safe and released back to normal operations.

The Sedalia Police Department is investigating the report and working to determine who is responsible for making the call.
