
David C. Diehm, 86, of Marshall, MO, died Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial services with a Masonic service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Inurnment with military rites will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Born June 21, 1937, in Evansville, IN, he was the son of the late George Diehm and Ida Margarete Blendinger Diehm. David graduated from Anna High School, Anna, OH, in 1955, and served in the United States Air Force for four years. On March 17, 1962, he married Carolyn Kay Campbell who survives of the home. In his younger years, David worked for Firestone Tire as a sign installer which brought them to Missouri in the early 1960’s. In 1964 they moved to Marshall where David worked at the local tire store, purchasing the business in 1969, founding Diehm’s Tire Service. He was an active member of the Lion’s Club, receiving the Melvin Jones Award for Humanitarian Service, had served as president 2 times and maintained the broom inventory. David was a member of the Missouri Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association, serving on its board of directors, elected president for 2 years and inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2019. As an active member of the community, David served as Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #42, served Meals on Wheels, participated in the Marshall Chamber of Commerce, was a member of Trilumina Lodge 205 A.F & A.M. in Marshall and Malta Bend American Legion Post 558. He was also a longtime member of Marshall First United Methodist Church. While he loved his business, he also found time to enjoy his gardening, golfing, fishing, and his family.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn; he is survived by two children, Mike Diehm (Lesa) and Karen Maupin (Troy), all of Marshall; nine grandchildren: Derek Barr (Andrea), Jacob Diehm (Katelyn), Olivia Hussey (Tyler), Ashlee Ibarra (Vinny), Brett Maupin (Elana), Cristina Ibarra (Collin), Isabel Ibarra, Grant Maupin and Grace Diehm (Caleb); 11 great-grandchildren; two siblings, John Diehm of Vonore, TN and Margaret George of Somers, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
David was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George Peter Diehm and Andrew Diehm.
