A Marshall woman has been charged with a felony for possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop on February 24.

According to a report from the Marshall Police Department, an officer conducted a stop on a vehicle driven by Jessica Davis on South Salt Pond Avenue. A male passenger exited the vehicle and fled. The officer chased the male subject but was unable to apprehend him.

Davis was detained by the officer and requested her purse from the vehicle. While performing an inventory of the purse the officer located a white crystallized substance. A field test of the substance allegedly tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine weighing 0.38 grams.

According to court documents, Davis has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

Bond was set at $7,500 cash or surety with 10 percent allowed.
