The Sedalia City Council passed an ordinance updating the alcohol and drug policy for city employees during its meeting on Monday, August 7.

City Administrator Kelvin Shaw stated several policies were updated due to marijuana legalization in Missouri. Due to accepting federal funds for several projects, the city has to comply with the drug free workplace policy instituted by the federal government.

In other news from the meeting, a badge pinning ceremony was held for the fire department. Three new firefighters were pinned while four were promoted to engine operators.
