
A Columbia woman has been arrested and charged with a drug-related felony after a traffic stop on August 7, 2023.
According to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies observed a vehicle driven by Amy Hilton commit several traffic violations in Franklin. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and requested the Howard County K9 respond to the scene.
Upon arrival of the K9, a free air sniff was conducted on the vehicle and a positive alert and indication were given by the K9. A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle. During the search, Deputies located a white crystal-like substance, three unidentified pills, and drug paraphernalia. All items were field tested and provided a positive test for methamphetamine. Hilton was arrested without incident and transported to the Howard County Detention Center, where she was placed on a 24-hour hold.
Hilton has been charged with a felony for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond has been set at $20,000 cash only.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, at Howard County Circuit Court.
