The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen considered an ordinance to set the tax levy during its meeting on Monday, August 14.

The board held a public hearing prior to the meeting. It was noted that the proposed levy is $0.2564 more than 2022.

During the meeting, the board voted to approve both readings of an ordinance that set the 2023 tax levy at $2.0692 per $100 of assessed valuation.

In other news, the board discussed a solid waste service bid. The bid was from GFL Environmental. The bid is a five year contract starting at $14.20 with annual increases. There is also a five percent fuel surcharge each month for the price of diesel. The board voted to approve the contract.
