A murder suspect involved in a homicide in 2022 has been found guilty in Pettis County Circuit Court.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office investigators were made aware of the homicide of James “JR” Robert Fannon and an assault of another individual from an investigator with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office on February 24, 2022.

A joint investigation was conducted with investigators from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. After following up on multiple leads a search warrant was sought and obtained on February 24, 2022, and the warrant was served at the suspect’s residence, Mark Alan Fielder in Windsor. Evidence was collected related to the homicide and the assault and Fielder was arrested at the residence for the crimes.

A jury trial was conducted in Pettis County on August 16 and 17, 2023. Fielder was ultimately found guilty of murder in the first degree, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and assault in the second degree.

Allocution and sentencing are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. October 10, 2023 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
