The Boonville City Council set the tax levy for fiscal year 2023-2024 during its meeting on Monday, August 14.

The council held a public hearing on the tax levy prior to its meeting, but there were no comments.

The proposed rate was set at $.7035 per $100 of assessed valuation. This is an unchanged from last year.

In other news, the council approved the first reading of a proposed bill authorizing the execution of a state block grant agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to secure funding for airport improvements. The grant would be used to rehabilitate taxiways due to asphalt reaching the end of its useful life. The initial grant would be for planning on the project with additional funding to be secured through the grant to complete actual work next year. The proposed cost of the project is approximately $1 million.

The council will need to approve a second reading at the next meeting for final approval.
