An Odessa man has been charged with two felonies after a vehicle pursuit in Lafayette and Johnson Counties on Tuesday, August 22.
According to a report from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy received an anonymous tip regarding a stolen Ford F-150 truck from the Claycomo Plant located on Redbud Road in Lake Lafayette. The deputy observed Deric Coon and another individual at the scene. Coon and the passenger proceeded to leave the scene after being identified.
After traveling down several roads and highways in excess of 100 miles per hour, Coon allegedly entered a driveway in Johnson County. After allegedly striking a Missouri State Highway Patrol car, Coon traveled at a high rate of speed onto West Shore Drive and missed a curve causing the truck to enter a pasture. Authorities did not locate the truck but served and arrest warrant on Coon on Thursday, August 24.
Coon has been charged with felonies for second degree assault of a special victim and resisting arrest by fleeing.
No bond has been set.
A court hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 13 in Lafayette County Circuit Court.
