Lexington City Administrator Mark O’Dell gave an update on the city’s new water treatment plant during the city council meeting on Tuesday, August 22.

O’Dell stated due to delays the city deciding is how much to hold back in payment to the contractor for the delays.

O’Dell stated increased costs have been incurred by the delay including substantial engineering costs. O’Dell anticipates the project to be substantially completed the week of August 28. The plant has successfully pumped water from new wells and staff will need to be trained before the plant begins operation.
