
A Sedalia man was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in Pettis County on Sunday, August 27.
According to the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was informed by the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force that a vehicle would be entering the county on Highway 65 after allegedly traveling to Kansas City to pick up narcotics. The deputy observed the vehicle traveling on Highway 65. Due to the vehicle traveling over the speed limit a traffic stop was initiated north of Houston Road. The deputy questioned the driver, identified as Kelton Hunter and a passenger. Hunter stated no weapons or drugs were in the vehicle and consented to a search.
During the search, a second deputy on the scene located small pieces of aluminum foil with a burnt residue with a portion of a pill containing alleged fentanyl. The passenger allegedly admitted to the deputies the two had traveled to a Kansas City gas station and purchased 15 of the pills and had smoked on the return trip. While viewing surveillance of the traffic stop Hunter was observed retrieving an item from his person and allegedly swallowing it.
According to court documents, Hunter has been charged with felonies for possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
Bond has been set at $25,000 cash or surety.
