
A Bunceton man has been charged with multiple felonies after Cooper County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant on Monday, August 28.
According to a report from the sheriff’s department, David Maxwell had an outstanding felony warrant in Cooper County. Maxwell was found at a residence Bunceton and taken into custody by officers. During a search of the residence, the deputies allegedly located a 9 millimeter handgun and glass smoking pipes containing a crystal residue.
Another individual at the residence stated one of the pipes belonged to Maxwell and they had been ingesting methamphetamine that day. A check of Maxwell’s criminal history revealed he was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. A field test of the smoking pipes yielded a positive result for the presence of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, Maxwell has been charged with felonies for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.
Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety.
No court date has been set.
