Nolan Gorman hits a pair of home runs, Mile Mikolas pitched a quality start, and the St. Louis Cardinals took down the Atlanta Braves 10-6 in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday, September 5.

Mikolas went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits.

St. Louis attacked Braves starter Michael Soroka, tagging him for five runs in three innings. Gorman hit his 25th and 26th homers of the season. Tyler O’Neill mashed his ninth, and Jordan Walker hit his 15th.

The Braves started to mount a comeback after scoring three runs in the eighth inning, but Ryan Helsley slammed the door with a scoreless ninth.

Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, Matt Olson, and Marcell Ozuna all went deep for the Braves in the losing effort.
