
Doris M. Jackson, 96, of Raytown, MO, formerly of Saline County, MO, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Trustwell Living of Raytown.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Wellington J. Gorham Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Fairview Cemetery. Born August 11, 1927, in Saline County, MO, she was the daughter of the late Oliver James Henderson and Sybil Mae Middleton Henderson. She was a graduate of C.C. Hubbard High School in Sedalia, MO and received a bachelor’s degree in education from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO. On October 13, 1949, in Sedalia, she married Richard Jackson who preceded her in death on June 16, 1995. She was a dedicated worker on the family farm her entire life. Growing up she attended North St. United Methodist Church She was a member of Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church where she was a Mother of the church, secretary for its Missions Department and secretary for the church. She taught Vacation Bible School at various churches. She was former president and very involved with Saline County Pork Producers. She attended Central Free Will Baptist Church in Grandview, Mo.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Dorothy Henderson of Kansas City, MO; a brother-in-law, Bishop Henry Jackson of Kansas City, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins including Martha Miller and Jessie Mae Horne; and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by one sister, Lucy Mae Gant who was raised in the home; and four brothers, Arthur Henderson, Ben Henderson, Wilbur “Buck” Henderson and Marion Lee “Jappie” Henderson.
