Helen Eugene Shepard, 100, of Richmond, formerly of Slater, passed away, Friday, September 1, 2023 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, September 9, 2023, in the Slater City Cemetery, with Rev. Paul List officiating. Pallbearers will be Travis Shepard, Justin Shepard, Heath Hibler, Steven Marcott, Blake Farr and Payton Reed. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. on Saturday, at Weiker Funeral Home.

Helen was born June 29, 1923, in Slater, to the late Carl and Lena Mae Sinnett Sallee.

Helen worked at Lake City, Union Station, and JCPenney’s, doing various things.  She attended college in Independence and received her cosmetologist certification.

On December 6, 1950, in Fayette, she married Carl William Shepard. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1999.

Helen attended the First Baptist Church in Slater.
