The Marshall City Council considered an ordinance to allow slow-moving vehicles to drive on certain streets in city limits during its meeting on Tuesday, September 5.
The ordinance covers slow-moving vehicles, which includes vehicles that can travel between 18-25 miles per hour (mph). The main focus of the ordinance is to allow the use of golf carts on city streets. The vehicle will need to pass an inspection and be registered with the city before can legally be driven on streets.
The ordinance does not cover vehicles that fail to reach speeds of at least 18 mph, like riding lawnmowers. It also does not cover ATVs or UTVs.
The council passed the first reading of the ordinance.
