A Columbia man on a motorcycle was killed in a crash on Interstate 70 on Thursday, September 7.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Michael Kniest attempted to change lanes, struck the towed unit of a Freightliner truck driven by a California man and was ejected from the motorcycle.

Kniest was transported by Sni Valley EMS to Centerpoint Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred at 3:26 p.m. at mile marker 31.4 in Lafayette County.
