A Sedalia man has been charged with a felony for arson after attempting to burn someone’s house on June 16.
According to a probable cause statement, authorities were contacted by a woman who reported that someone tried to burn her house in Sedalia. Video from a neighbor showed that the fire was set at approximately 12:44 a.m.
A representative from the State Fire Marshall’s Office investigated the scene and stated the fire was due to “a human action supplying and open flame to flammable liquid on yard debris.” The damage to the house cost an estimated $1,000.
Detectives conducted an investigation and discovered that Brian Vance was at the scene the night of the fire. Vance admitted to being at the fire and being burned when it was lit.
Court documents say Vance is charged with felonies for arson in the first degree. Bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
No court dates have been set at this time.
