The Saline County Commission approved leasing two pickups for the county during its meeting on Wednesday, September 13.

Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner stated the vehicles will be replacing 2020 vehicles currently in use.

In other news from the meeting, the commission approved a request by Mary Ann Gilpin of the United Way for the use of the courthouse lawn for the annual United Way goal sign for the month of October. The goal for this year is $22,000 according to Gilpin as fewer agencies are seeking funds than in past years. Gilpin stated 4-H, CASA, Community Food Pantry, Foster Grandparent Program and Civil Air Patrol as well as the Imagination Library for Children will be supported by donations.
