The Sedalia City Council approved the purchase of blowers for the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant during its meeting on Tuesday, September 5.

Blowers are typically used to provide aeration in activated sludge plants and to promote aerobic digestion. They keep solids suspended in channels and in aeriated grit chambers. City Administrator Kelvin Shaw stated the blowers are a major component for the rehabilitation of the plant with the cost associated approximately $480,000.

In other news, the council approved renewing an agreement with Sedalia School District for a school resource officer. The city provides the officer for the district during the school year and the cost is split between the two entities. The agreement, which is renewed annually is for the 2023-2024 school year.
