Cherry Lynn Swanigan, 67, of Marshall, MO, died Friday, September 15, 2023, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.  To celebrate Cherry’s favorite color, purple, everyone is encouraged to wear something purple to honor her.  Memorials are suggested to family choice and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born February 11, 1956, in Urbana, MO, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Swanigan and Betty Lou Slavens Swanigan who survives of Marshall.  Cherry lived in Marshall most of her life and was a 1974 graduate of Marshall High School.  In 1980 she graduated from the Saline County Career Center Nursing Program with her L.P.N. license and later obtained her bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology from Missouri Valley College.  Cherry worked as a nurse for 22 years at Marshall Habilitation Center and then following her retirement from there she worked in the shipping department of Cargill.  She had attended Olivet Free Will Baptist Church in Marshall.

In addition to her mother, Betty; she is survived by four daughters: Jessica Schlueter (Jim) of Carrollton, Rebecca Enriquez of Carrollton, GA, Brynn Rodgers of Marshall and Jane Peart (Ricky Taylor Jr.) of Marshall; five grandchildren: Dymani Butner, Ravyn Fleming, Bailee Rodgers, Bently Rodgers and Kora Taylor; one sister, Brenda Jo Simmons of Marshall; as well as other extended family and many friends.

Cherry was preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” Swanigan; one brother, Danny Swanigan; and a granddaughter, Kree Elizabeth Taylor.
