The Marshall City Council considered the second reading of an ordinance that would establish rules and regulations permitting the use of golf carts on certain city streets during its meeting on Tuesday, September 19.

The ordinance covers slow-moving vehicles, which includes vehicles that can travel between 18-25 miles per hour (mph). The main focus of the ordinance is to allow the use of golf carts on city streets. The vehicle will need to pass an inspection and be registered with the city before can legally be driven on streets.

The ordinance goes into effect in April 2024.

The council passed the second reading of the ordinance.
