A Sedalia man has been charged with a felony for domestic assault after authorities were dispatched to a residence on Tuesday, September 19.
According to the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the reporting party’s house and found the reported victim hiding behind the couch.
The victim had severe wounds on the majority of her body, including swelling on her face, a black eye, and bruising on her shoulders, arms, and neck. The victim also had lacerations on her legs.
When first speaking with deputies, the victim refused to identify her attacker, likely out of fear of retaliation. After the victim received medical attention, she identified her attacker as Jason Harvey. Neighbors have allegedly seen Harvey get in verbal altercations with the victim before.
Court documents say Harvey has been charged with domestic assault in the second degree. Harvey was convicted of domestic assault in the third degree in 2014 and allegedly has a lengthy history of other violent crimes.
A warrant has been issued out of Pettis County. No court dates have been set at this time.
