
Ethol Evaline Dysart, 98, of Marshall, MO, formerly of Waverly and Higginsville, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Waverly Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Christian Church or Fitzgibbon Home Health and Hospice. Born January 25, 1925, in Windyville, MO, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Oscar “Bob” McKee and Sadie Sarah Rice McKee. Ethol attended Eberheart School and then, after the death of her mother, they moved to Lafayette County where she graduated from Hazel Hill High School. On June 22, 1946, she married Emmett Smith, they later divorced, and on February 27, 1972, she married Edwin “Bill” Dysart who preceded her in death. Ethol worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist at Kelling Hospital and was a member of the Christian Church. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include three daughters: Evelyn W. “Sue” Fowler (Sam), Peggy Scudder (Chuck) and Micki Uhrig (Dr. Jack), all of Marshall; daughter-in-law, Nancy Smith of Sedalia; three grandchildren: Richard Smith (Debbie) of Richmond, Casey Smith of Sedalia and Jacob Uhrig of Marshall; stepdaughter, Connie Wellman of Higginsville; one step-grandson, Chad Wellman; three step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Ethol was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one son, Donald Ray Smith; a sister, Letha Lynn; a stepson, James Dysart; and a step-granddaughter, Alicson Bracy.
