The Higinsville Board of Aldermen approved several bills regarding the city’s budget during its meeting on Monday, September 25.

The board started by approving amendments to the 2022-2023 budget. The board reported a $2,416,300 increase in that budget due to cost increases from EMS, Cemetery, Cemetery Trust, Pool, Library, Electric, Water, and Sewer services. Electric services had the highest cost increase at $1,495,000 due to increased costs and generation. The board also reported an increased revenue total of $1,771,600 in the budget. City Administrator Jeanette Dobson said the city had enough funds to cover the cost increases in the budget.

The board also approved the 2023/2024 budget. The board has $23,265,434 budgeted for 2023/2024. This budget takes effect October 1, 2023.

In other news, the board considered agreements with public entities in Lafayette County for emergency dispatching services, as well as an agreement with the Wellington Police Department for use of the city’s records management software. Both agreements were approved by the board.
