Dr. Delbert Lee Shroyer, “Doc”, 86, of Marshall, MO passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Delbert was born on January 24, 1937, to George A. Shroyer and Hazel (Condray) Bombardier near Miltonvale, KS where he grew up on the family farm. It was here that his love for nature and the outdoors began. He graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School, where he was active in sports, including football, basketball and pole vaulting. Although he left the farm to pursue his career, he always stayed a farm boy at heart. You can take the boy from the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the boy. He continued his education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, where he graduated on June 30, 1960.
Delbert married Rosalie M. Kline on July 14, 1957. They moved to Marshall, MO with their daughter Kathy in 1961 and this is where they grew their family & had their daughter Tina & son Brian. Together they started Shroyer Chiropractic Center where he devoted 59 years to taking care of his patients. He enjoyed serving the community in this way, even taking calls at home after hours to meet the needs of his patients. In addition to being a chiropractor, he was an industrious businessman who made endeavors in real estate and took pleasure in watching the stock market.
Doc’s family was his life and he was known as “Papa” to those closest to him. He was a gentle father and grandfather, and enjoyed livening things up with his wry sense of humor. Always active and seeking ways to make memories as a family, he delighted in any opportunities to boat or jet ski at the lake house, ride ATV’s or horses, camp in the RV, take trips to the Missouri State Fair, and go swimming or ice skating with his kids and grandkids. He was truly happiest being surrounded by those he loved.
Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman and cattleman who spent as much time out in nature as he could. He loved hunting and working on the farm, feeding the wildlife from his deck, doing yard work, planting trees, and instilled in his family a love and respect for nature as well.
In addition to his wife of sixty-six years, Rosalie, he is survived by two children: Tina Barr and husband Mark of Blue Springs, MO and Brian Shroyer and wife Theresa of Marshall, MO; son-in-law, Steve Heinzler of Marshall, MO, seven grandchildren: Amber Kueker (Matt), Justin Heinzler (Kara), Danielle Hopke (Jeremy), Brandon Barr, Cory Shroyer (Haidyn) Joe Shroyer (Kayla), and Clayton Shroyer; great-grandchildren Bailey, Brody & Bennett Kueker, London, Libby, Landrie and Lola Heinzler, Colton, Levi and Owen Hopke and Ella Shroyer. His beloved sister, Sherryl Gray survives as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Franklin and wife, Jeanine; his daughter, Kathy Heinzler; three brothers-in-law, Frank Gray, Maynard Kline, and John Kline; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Kline and Deanna Kline.
