Born May 9, 1940 in Gary, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Valentine and Georgina Boyd Valentine. Valerie graduated from Portage High School in 1958 in Portage, IN. She married William E. “Bill” Todd. They moved to Marshall from Gary, IN, in 1964. They later divorced. She married Lester Leroy Moore on May 29, 1981, happily blending two families. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri Valley College and a Master’s degree in elementary education from Central Missouri State University. She taught 1st grade for 25 years for the Marshall Public School System. She was a very active member of Marshall Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
