Jewell D. Hoyes, 81, of rural Sweet Springs, died Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Wesley United Methodist Church Annex Building in Sweet Springs.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.  An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born June 28, 1942, in Taney County, MO, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Persinger and Topsy Blackwell Persinger.  On February 1, 1976, she married Bruce Lee Hoyes who survives of the home.  Jewell graduated from the Saline County Career Center LPN program and worked as an LPN for many years at Marshall Habilitation Center until her retirement.

In addition to her husband, Bruce; she is survived by five children: Shelly Miller (George “Buster”) of Slater, Robbin Miller, Erin McGowen (Michael Hoffmann) of Marshall, Brandi Cruz (Lawrence) of Colorado Springs, CO and Bruce J. Hoyes (Crystal) of Sweet Springs; her other “child”, Sissy, who is her Great Dane that she loved; 10 grandchildren: Hunter Miller, Austin Miller, Brent Mullins, Amanda Cooper (Anthony), Jordan McGowen, Jeremy Miller, Desiree Donovan, Justin Hoyes (Jessica Case), Donavan Hoyes and Garret Hoyes; 11 great-grandchildren: Katie Mullins, Aiden Mullins, Paisely Cooper, Kendyl Cooper, Dalton Mullins, Zhane Mullins, Hailey Mullins, Corbin Mullins, Jase Hoyes, Kimberlynn Hoyes and Jameson Hoyes; one sister, Virginia Mae Henley of Kansas City; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

In addition to her parents, Jewel was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kenneth Hoyes; and eight siblings: Harvey Lee Persinger, Lucille Clouse, Loretta Rogers, Geneva Henley, Carl Persinger, Don Persinger, Calvin Persinger and Bobby Gene Persinger.
