A Centerview man has been arrested and charged after a police chase in a stolen vehicle on Monday, November 6.
The Warrensburg Police Department says that a male subject identified as Dustin Washelesky, had allegedly taken a vehicle belonging to employee at a business in the city limits of Warrensburg.
Authorities searched at Washelesky’s residence, but were unable to locate him or the vehicle.
After a few hours, Washelesky returned to the parking lot where the vehicle was stolen from, where officers attempted to make an arrest. Washelesky then took off at a high rate of speed through the lot to get away from police.
A police chase began, and the vehicle turned onto Highway 50 and traveled at speeds of over 80 miles per hour. A spike strip was successfully deployed, and Washelesky had to eventually stop. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Washelesky has been charged with felonies for tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree and resisting arrest. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash only.
He is due for an initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
