
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported on November 11, a fatal traffic crash in Saline County.
18 year-old Landon Vaughn of Leavenworth, KS was traveling eastbound when his sedan traveled off the side of the roadway through the median cables and spun into oncoming westbound traffic,
Vaughn’s vehicle was then struck by two separate Tractor Trailers traveling westbound. Vaughn was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
It is is unknown if he was wearing a safety device.The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m.m on I-70 around mile marker 83.
One tractor trailer was driven by 47- year old Larry Phelps JR ,of Granite City, IL. Phelps was reported to have no injuries.
The other tractor trailer was driven by 66-year-old Willie Campbell of Illinois who had passenger 46-year old Robert Marshall of Illinois as a passenger. Driver and passenger were taken by EMS to Fitzgibbon Hospital with both reporting to have minor injuries.
Saline County Deputies were initially on scene assisted by Troopers as well as the Boonville Police Department.
